Tourism and culture on the Murfatlar - General Toshevo cross-border route

Project “Development of tourism potential, protection and promotion of the common heritage” is cofinanted by the European Union throughEuropean Regional Development Fund under the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme.

Value of the European Union contribution: 1 036 958.56 euros (ERDF)

The main objective of the project is to support the sustainable socio-economic development of the cross-border region by enhancing the tourism potential related to the development and marketing of competitive tourist products. Improve the functional status of sites of the natural and cultural-historical heritage, develop and promote the common heritage in the cross-border region. Introducing innovative technologies and new tourism products.
The total value of the project is 1,249,899.39 euros, of which the value of the grant is 1,224,901.40 euros.
The total budget of the UAT partner Murfatlar City is 609,944.62 euros, of which the non-reimbursable financing is 597,745.73 euros.
The project started on 11.09.2018 and has a duration of 24 months.

Activities carried out:

A round table dedicated to young people and their training was organized in the theme of the project: "Common values in the Dobrogean area" with modern tendencies for tourism development and promotion of cultural and historical and natural heritage, tourist value and influence in the Murfatlar - General Toshevo cross-border area. of this heritage.
A thematic camp was organized with the title "Traditional folk crafts and intangible cultural heritage - traditions and customs", attended by 40 Romanian and Bulgarian students.
Electronic equipment was purchased;
The activities of preparation of the investments proposed by the project, respectively of the modernization and extension of the Murfatlar Culture House, of the rehabilitation of the Heroes Monument and of the realization of a theme park dedicated to the local cultural and natural heritage, were finalized by the elaboration of the technical project and the details of execution that will be the basis of the procedure for the purchase of construction works;
A research study was elaborated "Exploiting the tourism potential and the opportunities for tourism development in the city of Murfatlar" and a strategic plan.
